DOMINION DAY CELEBRATIONS IN THE VILLAGE
Dominion Day was the name of the holiday commemorating the formation of Canada as a Dominion on 1 July 1867. On October 27th, 1982, the holiday was renamed to Canada Day by Act of Parliament. It was common for many Canadians to hold picnics and host parties to celebrate this day and the village was no exception. Locals enjoyed a good picnic and family gatherings, so Dominion Day was the perfect occasion for this. Delicious home-baked goods were on the menu, as well as an activity-packed day. Everybody enjoyed themselves and went home with full tummy and many stories to tell. Notice how each congregation offered different activities.
